Symposium Cultural Events

All registered conference participants are most welcome to take part in our social events which are included in the conference registration fee, but we need to know how many delegates intend to join us. You are thus kindly requested to register for the event.

I. The Exhibition Center

A new hall of the Exhibition Center of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences occupying area of 667 square meters, has the Constant Exposition of the Siberian  Branch’s scientific achievements. The main goal of the exposition to promote scientific developments of Siberian scientists.

On the base of the Exhibition, mobile collective expositions for participation in the exhibitions in Russia and abroad are organized; topical workshop presentations of the scientific developments displayed at the Exhibition are held. Potentially interested organizations, companies and businessmen are invited to the workshops.

The exposition halls are equipped with up-to-date conference and exhibition equipment. More than 550 basic and applied  developments of all SB RAS scientific centers institutes are displayed at the exhibition.  All the developments are presented in 11 thematic areas:

II. The Central Siberian Geological Museum

The exposition of the Central Siberian Geological Museum laboratory presents a collection of  minerals  from many countries across the world.

Museum  is not only  a “frozen” history; the exploration of the Siberian resources is still going on  these days.

If you are interested to know about the Siberian resource of Russia today, please visit the Central Siberian Geological Museum.

Yakutian diamonds, maps of oil lensing and  giant oil and gas fields of Western Siberia, legends of untold riches that became true due to the efforts of Russian geologists  — all this  reflected in  the museum guides’ stories.

The exhibition halls contain ores and minerals of Siberia,  meteorite fragments, fossil flora and fauna as well as  an extensive collection of  minerals synthesized in the laboratories of the Institute, including the minerals without natural analogues.

Mineral specimens   not only from all regions of the country  but also from 50 countries worldwide are displayed in the museum.

More than one thousand various minerals are presented in the collection, and  about 20 thousand exhibit items  are displayed.

III. The Museum of Nature

Absolutely new exposition with 5 thematic areas, such as GEOLOGY, PALEONTOLOGY, BIRDS, MAMMALS and INSECTS.    The exhibition halls  contain more than 1500 items from the museum holdings, including geological and palaeontological collections that have not been previously exhibited. Geological collection of a new museum  includes not only mineral resources mined  at the deposits of the Novosibirsk region, but also specimens of minerals, semi-precious stones and  native metals  from all over the world.

Palaeontological collection  in addition to  complete skeletons and skulls of fossil animals, also includes  some hundreds of rare fossils presenting the  geologic periods fauna from the Devonian period (410-360 mln. years ago) to the end of the Quaternary Period (10 thous. years ago). For the first time the exhibit items relating to the Age of Reptiles  (Mesozoic Era) are displayed. A large block of collection is presented by specimens of fauna found at the quarries of the Novosibirsk region.

After the excursion,  you will have some free time to visit the gift shop  of the Local History Museum where you can find souvenirs and hand-made jewellery from semi-precious stones.

IV. Museum of Archeology and Ethnography

The main purpose of the museum is to display the latest achievements and finds made by the archaeologists, ethnographers and archeographers during numerous expedition trips, as well as promotion of scientific knowledge about the remote past of the vast region, wealth and variety of cultures,  change, influence and mutual enrichment of cultures.

At present the museum is located at the laboratory and exhibition complex of the Institute of Archeology  and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.  Total area of the museum which is more than 500 square meters is occupied by the expositions (315 square meters), fund materials and the restoration laboratory.

Historical and cultural approach was applied for creation of the museum permanent exposition; as well as the traditional division into following periods: the Palaeolithic Age, the  Neolithic Age,  the Bronze Age, the early Iron Age and the Middle Ages. The last hall is devoted to the spiritual culture of contemporary peoples inhabiting Siberia and the Far East.

V. Novosibirsk Zoo

At the present day the Novosibirsk Zoo has around 11,000 animals representing 738 species. Over 350 species are entered into International  Endangered-species list (Red Book), Red Book of Russia and the Novosibirsk region.  International studbooks are kept for 77 species. The Zoo team takes part in 67 international programs for preservation of  endangered and rare animals. The Novosibirsk Zoo is proud of one of the world best collections  of cat and weasel families. The Zoo is a member of 3 international associations: EAZA (European Association of Zoos and Aquariums), ЕАРАЗА (Euro-Asian Association of Zoos and Aquariums) and WAZA (World Association of Zoos and and Aquariums). The Zoo is also a participant of  ISIS (International Species Information System).

VI. The Railroad Museum

The exhibition of the museum includes the unique collection of steam trains, diesel and electric locomotives, freight and passenger carriages  used for railways of the Western Siberia. In addition, light vehicles of the Soviet times of various years of issue as well as offroaders, trucks and tractors are also displayed.

VII. Big Novosibirsk Planetarium

Big Novosibirsk planetarium is the largest astrophysical center equipped with  the most advanced technological facilities.

 The Center includes the following:

  1. Two astrophysical domed towers with two telescopes installed.
  2. Planetarium museum with mockups of spaceships and natural science exhibits displayed.
  3. The Foucault tower with the same-named pendulum (Foucault pendulum, 15 meters high).
  4. Stellar domed hall, 16 m in diameter.
  5. A sundial located in front of the observatory.
  6. The territory in front of the planetarium is designed as a park featuring planets of the Solar System and the observation wheel.

You will have a unique opportunity both to observe a sky of stars and to watch 3D images, but also to feel a real in-space participation effect.

VIII. SIBIRYAK (SIBERIAN) Health Resort Park

The park belt is located at the bank of the Ob Reservoir, at the territory of Berdsk city.  Parkways, garden houses, picnic grounds and a petting zoo are available.

It also features a beautiful beach with boat and twin-hull boat rentals.

You will have a great chance to holeup from  noise and hustle of the city, to be wrapped in  the inviting atmosphere of  the pine wood and picturesque coast of the Ob Sea, to take a walk among the pine-trees and to look at a small zoo (raccoons, rabbits, yak, goats and  reindeer).

IX. Novosibirsk Technopark

Symposium  participants and guests are invited to visit Akadempark (Novosibirsk), one of the top-rated technoparks in Russia. You will see the infrastructure, technology capabilities of Akadempark, as well as high-technology companies and advanced developments.
